The Senlis Council organised a two-day event,
The Kabul International Winter Symposium on Drug Policy, held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, 22-23 January 2006.
The first day of the Symposium, entitled
Enhancing Access to Essential Medicines in Afghanistan, brought together health professionals from across Afghanistan to examine the availability of pain-killers in the country and the role an opium licensing system could play in improving access to these essential medicines.
The second day of the Symposium, entitled
Eradication as Drug Policy Response: An Impact Assessment for Afghanistan, raised questions about the impact of crop eradication as a drug policy tool, particularly in the context of Afghanistan. The event also marked the release of The Senlis Council's Study on Eradication and the launch of the Farmers' Defence Fund.
