The Canadian Symposium on Afghanistan

On the 24th of October, The Senlis Council hosted in Ottawa an International Symposium on Canada’s involvement in Afghanistan, the role of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force and the international community’s response to the country’s needs in terms of development and reconstruction. International and Afghan experts discussed the achievements of the past five years of the international community’s presence in Afghanistan and the steps that should urgently be taken to solve the country’s current security and poverty crises.

On the 25th of October 2006 The Senlis Council convened an open debate on Canada’s role in Afghanistan in Ottawa, and invited Canada’s Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, Canadian Civil Society, Canada’s Afghan communities, and interested parties to participate. The Senlis Council invited stakeholders to submit their comments and suggestions for topics to be discussed at the Debate.
